My heroes could very well be your heroes

So people have been asking me what I think about Batman and to write about it. I will try to work out a review over the next few days. Until then here is something to tide you over.

May I present to you, a first glimpse at Zak Snyder’s film adaptation of Alan Moore’s Watchmen. Probably my most anticipated film since Star Wars Episode 1: The Phantom Menace.

Enjoy

Boys and girls

I spent the afternoon sitting outside with some friends and shooting the shit as per usual. Eventually our conversation moved towards sexuality as it almost always does (we’re teenagers and young adults, what do you expect).

We proceeded to trade stories and share opinions on various subjects and the dialogue flowed like good wine. It got me thinking (along with a comment mick made earlier in the day) that people are intentionally or otherwise becomming a lot more liberal and open minded and that along with changes in the rights of minorities and women, we as a society are quickly becoming a lot more open to things that would have been considered taboo even a decade ago. Although I realize this does not apply globally(as there are still a great deal of ignorant people in this world), this generation is making leaps and bounds for equality and begging the question “what next?”.

Where can you go from the top? what other boundaries can we break? Who will be liberated next? The possibilities are as endless as they are limited. Is it truly possible to establish a global community without segregation and bias? Probably not. Taking that into account I am still truly proud to call myself a young Canadian, because I’m still not so sure that I could sit outside and speak easy with such a varied group of wonderful, open minded individuals anywhere else.

Not quite sure where I was going with this but it’s positive and positive is good. To those involved, thanks for the stimulating conversation.

Start with something sweet, something sweet to rot your teeth + YPF Review

first posts are like a breath of fresh air!

So this is post #1.

Probably the toughest one of all, because it decides whether this WordPress lovechild makes it out of the womb and into the watchful eyes of the audience or ends up in the dumpster behind the hospital.

I wrote that first paragraph yesterday, not much has changed as far as my views of the volatile nature of this project are concerned. With that said I’m ready to give it a shot!

Just got back from the movies/the neighbors house where I had a couple of beers with the two of them and my best friend / roommate. We saw the movie Young People Fucking which is an independent Canadian film which offers 5 different perspectives on sex and relationships ( the first date, the married couple, the recently separated couple, the roommates and the best friends trying to take it to the next level). The film was as original as the premise and the title does not quite do it justice(though it has created such a stir that the usher at the theater was under express orders from upper management not to say the title of the film to guests).

If I had to compare it to other films I’d say it’s a cross between the tastefully explicit masterpiece Shortbus and the heartfelt, thought provoking character driven extravaganza that is Love Actually . I would recommend it overall to just about anyone with an open mind and a taste for cinema, although I strongly suggest waiting to rent it on DVD, as that will probably be about 5$ cheaper than seeing it in theater. I would also suggest buying yourself some condoms and/or some lube with that left over 5$, as this movie is sure to inspire the sexual deviant within you.

So now that I’m feeling better having written all this I am going to call it a night, bare with me, as it may take a while for me to start feeling like a blogger again (long time readers may remember my old blog “The Speak Easy”). Stay tuned for more in the coming days.
